Student Code of Conduct

At Fluxo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, we are dedicated to fostering a positive, safe, and respectful environment for everyone—students of all ages, instructors, and parents alike. This Code of Conduct applies to all members of our community, guiding how we conduct ourselves on and off the mats to uphold the values of respect, discipline, and camaraderie.

Respect to Everyone

• Treat instructors, teammates, and opponents with kindness and courtesy, regardless of age, skill level, gender, or background.

• Listen to your instructors and follow their guidance during class.

• Bow when entering and leaving the mats to honor the art and the academy.

2. Train Safely and Responsibly

• Prioritize safety by practicing techniques with control and awareness of yourself and your training partners.

• Tap early and honor your partner’s tap immediately during submissions.

• Inform your instructor of any injuries, illnesses, or physical limitations before class.

• Use Jiu Jitsu skills responsibly, only for self-defense or in supervised training, and never to harm or intimidate others.

3. Foster a Positive Training Environment

• Support and encourage your teammates, celebrating their progress and successes.

• Be patient with yourself and others as everyone learns at their own pace.

• Avoid negative comments, gossip, or actions that create division.

4. Maintain Proper Hygiene

• Wear a clean uniform and maintain good personal hygiene before stepping on the mats.

• Keep nails short, remove jewelry, and avoid training if you are feeling unwell.

• Clean any equipment you use and help keep the training area and facility tidy.

5. Be a Good Teammate

• Include everyone during drills and sparring, avoiding favoritism or excluding anyone.

• Train with control, especially with less experienced or smaller partners.

• Show humility when you win and grace when you lose.

6. Stay Committed to Growth

• Attend class regularly, arrive on time, and be ready to learn.

• Set personal goals for improvement and work consistently to achieve them.

• Be open to feedback from instructors and teammates to enhance your skills.

7. Respect the Facility and Rules

• Treat the academy, its equipment, and others’ belongings with care.

• Do not step on the mats with shoes or bring food or drinks into the training area.

• Follow all academy rules and guidelines to help maintain a clean, respectful environment.

8. Represent Fluxo with Pride

• Uphold the values of respect, discipline, and humility both inside and outside the academy.

• Conduct yourself with sportsmanship and professionalism during competitions, seminars, and events.

9. Communicate Openly and Honestly

• Let your instructor know if you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or unsure about anything.

• Ask questions and seek help whenever needed.

• Address concerns respectfully with instructors or staff, avoiding gossip or unnecessary conflict.

By following this Code of Conduct, you contribute to the supportive and empowering community at Fluxo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, helping create an environment where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive.
