Hello, this is Coach José. I hope you are doing well.

So after days, weeks, or months of researching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the area you’ve decided to check us out!

Welcome to Fluxo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to meet your instructor.

We have a saying in Jiu-Jitsu:

“If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late. If you’re late, you tire. And if you tire... you can’t win.” -Saulo Ribeiro

Before you come to class we want to share what you can expect:

Classes are 90 minutes in length. We focus on learning the shapes of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through various mobility drills and we also learn to connect these movements in a technical application.

Have an open mind- You may be feeling a little nervous or anxious, and that’s perfectly OK. The movements in Jiu-Jitsu aren’t something you do every day and you may feel a little uncoordinated at first. That’s OK! We’ve all been there!

You will be challenged, go at your own pace. The goal is not to keep up with the others, but rather, learn how to efficiently manage the energy you have on your trial day.

The practice of martial arts guides to be the best version of ourselves. Part of embracing this lifestyle is establishing healthy habits and hygiene.

  • Please keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Bring a bottle of water for yourself.

  • Make sure you eat a healthy snack before class and get plenty of rest the night before. You want to make sure you have fuel in your body and plenty of energy for class! (If you eat a big dinner, try and do so by 5pm latest*)

  • Wear comfortable athletic clothing.

  • For the women/girls, we recommend a pair of shorts or leggings, a sports bra, and a t-shirt or compression top over your sports bra.

  • For men/boys, a pair of shorts- preferable with no pockets so your fingers don’t get stuck in there!- and a t-shirt or compression top will do.

  • Most importantly HAVE FUN!
