Children need lots of activity to use all the energy they have and to grow up healthy and strong. But learning a martial art is much more than that. It also starts a child on a lifelong journey of enjoying physical activity in a positive atmosphere.
A lack of physical activity is a problem that adults and children face not only in Brampton but throughout the country, and it is one of the main causes of obesity and deteriorating health (mental & physical) in our society. To fight the issue of poor health, we need to get people motivated and enjoying being active. This is one of the primary focuses Fluxo Jiu-Jitsu has when engaging with our students, especially the younger ones. We make every effort to ensure our classes are as engaging as possible for the youth of Brampton, so that they will pick up the skills and attitude that will make their lives easier and more rewarding.
At Fluxo, Coach José organizes the classes for children around the idea that different children learn in different ways. He uses a variety of different teaching techniques to help students remember what is taught, because the faster they learn, the faster they can move forward.

Play is the seed of discipline. In order to commit to something, our children must have the opportunity to first develop a basic sense of enjoyment. We learn best, when we are having fun. Happiness creates the will for the child to apply and understand. The curriculum includes embeds basic jiu-jitsu movements and situational awareness through interactive games. The end result is physical and technical development as a side effect of having fun.
Older children are excellent role models, helpers and teachers to younger ones. Mixed ages classes permits children to learn and play together, this allows for a more creative, less competitive and a more conducive class for experimentation. For the older children it is a confidence booster, as they are able to pass down the knowledge of skills they have learned. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches us that we can learn from anyone, no matter their level of expertise.
